New Year re-introduces Taxi Salik Toll fees for passengers! By Mohammad Alshunnar, on December 6th, 2012

The year 2013 will mark the re-introduction of the Salik toll fee 4Dhs, for all taxi passengers. Which was canceled back in 2008 due to customer complaints, that made customers feel like they were being cheated. Because the Taxi driver would have to manually add the 4DHS fee to the odometer. Reports say that tourists were the source of the complain, which lead to the exemption of taxi back in December 2008. However this time, RTA announced that the new odometer system (D8) would automatically add 4DHS when the car passes a tollgate, which will make the customers feel safer about the money transaction.
People are furious with this new regulation; because transportation is way too expensive already, and it should be as is to the public without the extra fees.
